Virtually all of Gulpin's body is its stomach. As a result, it can swallow something its own size. This Pokemon's stomach contains a special fluid that digests anything.

If you would like to become a tester for an upcoming pattern test, check the Open Pattern Tests page to apply.
Some of the variations that testers chose to make:
Being in Canada, these were the specific brands and colours I was able to find and use for my project:
Green = Color Craft by Loops & Threads, Sage, Medium (4), 100% acrylic, 453.6g, 742m
Yellow = Craftsmart Value, Ginger, Medium (4), 100% acrylic, 198g, 324m
Black = Loops & Threads, Impeccable, Black, Medium (4)
Hook size: 3.50 mm or 3.75 mm
I used a 3.75 mm hook, but it’s always up to your own discretion. The best advice is to find the hook that is the closest in size to your yarn.
Pins
Scissors
Stitch markers
Darning needle
Pipe cleaner (optional)
Using green yarn, and 3.75mm hook.

If you made the stitches tight enough, the leaf should stand up enough, it's not necessary to put pipe cleaners inside unless you want to.
Using black yarn, and 3.75mm hook.
ch x6, turn, and work into 2nd st from hook
R1-4: sc x5, ch, turn [5]

Tester's tip: Depending on the size of your yarn, you may need to do an extra stitch in each row if you think your diamond is too small.
Tester's tip: You may want to replace the chains and R1 with foundation stitches instead.
The technique used in this tutorial is the same I used for sewing down all the pieces
Line up the diamond with the tail.
The bottom corner should be 2 rows away from the tail.
If it is too high, you can move it down a bit.
There should be 5-6 rounds from the top corner to the center of the head.
Sew in place.
Pin the leaf in the top center of the head
Rotate the leaf so it's "flying" towards the back
Sew in place.
Pin the mouth vertically in the front center
Pin the arms horizontally, one on each side of the mouth
The front of the arms is about 5 stitches from the mouth.
Sew the mouth down in place, then sew the 2 arms.
Use a piece of scrap black yarn to embroider the eyes in downward slants like the picture.
